Today in First Grade
Today we worked on the phonics skill that says that "e" at the end of a word is quiet and that it jumps over one consonant to give power to the other vowel to say its own name. Examples of this are bike, lake, five, mine, stove, time, wrote, same. There are, of course, exceptions such as come, love, and have. We also talked briefly about words that end with mb.
Group A: Sebastian Learns to Fly
Group B: Maps Mighty Machines
Group C: Weather Clouds
We practiced word families some more. This is being another difficult concept. We are going to have to do some extra practice and activities with it next week.
There are four of them -- 2 are addition and 2 are subtraction.
There are the same three numbers in each math sentence.
All of our first grade subtraction problems start with the large number.
This was Friday, so we had library, PE, and drama.
